At the end of this course, the students; 1) Explicate culture, religion, language, economy and technology of miscellaneous civilizations over time and space. 2) Develop an understanding of the basic mode of production for subsistence and governmental systems and have analytical skills of evaluation of the various civilizations. 3) Have the ability to correlate belief and thought systems, political systems, economic systems of ancient civilization with each other and also with contemporary world.

COURSE DEFINITION
This course is a survey of the emergence and various civilizations in the history with an emphasis is on the political, social, and cultural developments from ancient to modern times and on the interactions between those civilizations. To this end the course examines how continuity and change diversify and transform systems and traditions of thoughts, beliefs, values and lifestyles. The course also provide students with basic historical literacy on various institutions such as art, religion, education, family, social organization, patterns of production, consumption, settlement, transportation, commerce and industry across critical periods in noteworthy civilizations in the history of humanity.
