LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Will gain a perspective and analytical information about how the the mass media are used by the political power and it's opposition in the process of political power struggle for effecting the public.
2) Will learn national, international, societal and intercultural dimensions of communication.
3) Will evaluate his/her knowledge and skills with a critical approach.

COURSE DEFINITIONIn this course, Political Power Check and Mass Communication Systems on Mass Communication Order in 'West' in the historical period. ( Middle Age and New Age), Political Power Check and Mass Communication Systems on Mass Coomunication Order in 'West' in the historical period. ( Modern Age and 19.cc), World War 1 and its afterwards. The Developments in Communication in 'West' during the World War 2 and its afterwards, Mass Communication Order, Political Power Check, Mass Communication Systems within Ottoman Empire. First Publishing Houses in Ottoman territories and periodical publications, First newspapers that is published within Ottoman territories. First Newspaper In Ottoman Language: Takvim-i Vekayi, The journalism in Ottoman Empire after 1860 and the period before First Constitutional Monarchy. (1.Meşrutiyet), First Constitutional Monarchy (1.Meşrutiyet) and First Constitution Period (Kanun-i Esasi), 2.Abdulhamit Period and Jön Türk Press which is an opposition organ, Second Constitutional Monarchy Period ( 2.Meşrutiyet), The activities in Mass Communication during National Struggle Period, The Republic Period. Şeyh Sait Rebellion and Takrir-i Sükun Law, First Press Law during the Republic Period: Press Law (1931), Mass Communication Order in Transition to Multi-Party System (1945) and afterwards subjects are discussed.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Meeting. To define the purpose of the course. To abridge the different opinions to the history of communication.
2nd Week Political Power Check and Mass Communication Systems on Mass Communication Order in 'West' in the historical period.
3rd Week Political Power Check and Mass Communication Systems on Mass Coomunication Order in 'West' in the historical period.
4th Week World War 1 and its afterwards. The Developments in Communication in 'West' during the World War 2 and its afterwards.
5th Week Mass Communication Order, Political Power Check, Mass Communication Systems within Ottoman Empire.
6th Week First newspapers that is published within Ottoman territories.First Newspaper In Ottoman Language: Takvim-i Vekayi
7th Week The journalism in Ottoman Empire after 1860 and the period before First Constitutional Monarchy. (1.Meşrutiyet)
8th Week Midterm
