COURSE DEFINITIONThe characteristic structural differences of documentary film is the subject of this course. From beginning to present documentary films are made in various genres. The course underlines the different documetary structures, and theories to explore their special feature. Students watch different examples documentaries from the first examples of documentaries to the latest ones.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Definition and aim of documentary, documentary film maker, ethics in documentary, mission and importance.
2nd Week History of documentary cinema; naturalism, British documentary film movement, newsreels,propagandists.
3rd Week History of documentary cinema; realism, kino-eye, cinema verite, direct cinema.
4th Week Documentay film history of Turkey.
5th Week Documentary genres; documentaries throuh their production forms and content, cinema and television documentaries.
6th Week Different forms in documentary.
7th Week New media and documentary.
8th Week Mid-term
9th Week How to find a subject, process of establishment of a project.
10th Week Financing documentaries.
11th Week Project file; proposition.
12th Week Documentary narration forms and techniques.
13th Week Production steps.
14th Week Interview as a basic technique & Documentary camera and editing.
