At the end of this course, the students; 1) Will learn to prepare a presentation using visual and audial instruments. 2) Will learn the techniques of summarizing a presentation and asking questions effectively. 3) Will experience preparing presentation with small groups.

COURSE DEFINITION | Public Speaking is designed to assist students in developing oral communication, specifically public speaking skills. Students are trained in selecting and organizing ideas; adapting a message to a particular audience; supporting ideas clearly, vividly, and logically; and delivering an effective message with confidence and enthusiasm. Within the constraints of time allowed for the class and the number in the class, all assignments will focus on the enhancement of public speaking knowledge and skills. Throughout the course, attention will be focused on providing an atmosphere of positive reinforcement and constructive feedback. Students are encouraged to assist each other with suggestions for improvement. The basic premise of this course is that public speaking is a skill that can be mastered by anyone with motivation and determination. The student will be graded on delivery, organization, and rhetorical skills. |
