1) Will understand the importance of music as a medium of communication.
2) And learn the academic approaches towards music in the frame of communication theories and cultural studies.
3) Will become familiar to multidisciplinary studies, make a connection between daily examples and theory, and develop a critical point of view.

COURSE DEFINITIONAt the end of this course, students; Understanding the importance of music as a communication tool, recognizes academic approaches to music within the framework of communication theories and cultural studies. By becoming familiar with interdisciplinary work, the student makes connections between current examples and theory and develops a critical perspective.

2nd Week The Historical Process: Social, Economic, Technological Changes and Music.
3rd Week Theoretical Approaches to Communication and Music I: Adorno and the Frankfurt School, Critical Theory, and Music.
4th Week Theoretical Approaches to Communication and Music II: Birmingham School, Cultural Studies and Music.
5th Week Ideology and Music.
6th Week The Music Industry and the Economy Politics of Music / General Review before mid-term exam.
