At the end of this course, the students; 1) To learn the techniques and strategies of translation in Turkish and English. To this effect, mainly lexical studies and grammar are dealt with for recognition, consolidation, and production purposes in the context pertaining to the field concerned. 2) To develop their reading comprehension in the source language as well as writing in the target language. 3) To develop their listening and speaking skills through the evaluation of the translation products in class.

COURSE DEFINITION
This is an upper-intermediate English for Specific Purposes translation course. It aims to equip students with the necessary skills in order to understand and identify the structural differences between English and Turkish, to recall previous knowledge on grammar and apply this knowledge to ESP content, to realize different uses of words in different contexts, to translate sentences of various structure and level of difficulty into the target language, considering important points about tone and content, to produce alternative translations for the words, phrases and structures given in the source language, and to enrich their field-specific vocabulary and to enhance their comprehension of written material.
