At the end of this course, the students; 1) Describe law as a social phenomenon; 2) Develop a definition for law, 3) Explain the effectivity of law, 4) Explain the concept of "living law", 5) Relate the law to other social normative systems and political or ideological foundations; 6) Distinguishes law from other social systems, 7) Debate on the relation between law and politics and ideology, 8) Analyze the relation of law and power, 9) Evaluate law from a historical point of view; 10) Explain the social conditions that gives birth to law, 11) Compare the features of law in different historical conjuncture, 12) List the elements that shapes the modern law, 13) Criticize the law; 14) Question the place and importance of law in a modern society, 15) Debate on the accuracy and fitness of the features of the law which are attributed to itself. 16) Learn about various types of knowledge and classification of science.

This course aims to provide students background about the social and human sources of law, effects of social changes on law or effects of law and social changes, law sociologists and their contributions to the sociology of law.
