At the end of this course, the students; 1) Compare sentence and text structures to translate at both the sentence and short paragraph level 2) Develop their ability to make sense out of context 3) Form new words in the target language 4) Read intensively, paying attention to sentence and paragraph integrity 5) Develop their vocabulary for content knowledge 6) Improve their writing skills 7) Make logical inferences from expressions and generate ideas 8) Evaluate translations and suggest alternative translations, focusing on the structural and contextual clues.

COURSE DEFINITION | LENG306 is an intermediate-upper level professional English translation course. The aim of this course is to provide students with the necessary skills to understand and define the structural differences between the English and Turkish languages, to remind their previous grammar knowledge and to use this knowledge in their own fields, to recognize the use of words in different contexts, to increase their knowledge in the target language, sentences with different difficulty structures and levels, tone and content. to translate, by considering the important points, to develop their skills to produce alternative translations for words, phrases and structures in the source language, to enrich their vocabulary in the field of law and to increase their ability to read, analyze, understand and translate legal material. |
