LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT	At the end of this course, the students; 1) will be able to attain knowledge about information technologies, 2) will understand the importance of MIS in bussiness management, 3) will be expected know the stages of the MIS development, 4) will be able to understand the importance of Information Technology Department (Computer Center) for the organization.

COURSE DEFINITION	Data and information concepts, system and information system concepts, contemporary information system approaches, the role and importance of management information systems in the enterprise, the importance of information systems in the decision making function of the manager, the application areas of MIS in the enterprise, the opportunities and hazards related to MIS, electronic business formats: digital business, e-government, e-commerce and virtual business concepts. The development of business information system is examined in this course.
COURSE CONTENTS	WEEK TOPICS 1st Week General information about the course and the evaluation methods. 2nd Week Concept of MIS; historical development of the communities; features of community structure; data and information concepts; features of the information. 3rd Week System concept, components of a system, classifications of the systems; MIS and its' elements; contemporary MIS approaches. 4th Week The role and the importance of MIS for the organization; tasks of the manager and managerial skills. 5th Week Decision making process, impacts of using MIS to decision making. 6th Week Management functions, impacts of using MIS to managemenbt functions. 7th Week Classifications of MIS. 8th Week Midterm Exam 9th Week MIS applications; benefits and risks of using MIS 10th Week Concepts of e-business, e-state and virtual organization, etc. 11th Week Operations concerned with organization's MIS. 12th Week Developing MIS; Information Technology Department (Computer Center) in the organization and its sources. 13th Week Presentations 14th Week Presentations 15th Week
