LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT	At the end of this course, the students; 1) Describe concepts related to addiction 2) Know the types of dependence 3) Know theoretical explanations related to addiction 4) Explain developmental processes related to addiction 5) Explain social-emotional learning processes related to addiction 6) Know the threats to the risk factors according to the types of addiction, take responsibility within their duty boundaries 7) Know the principles for preparing individual and group intervention programs for addiction in educational settings 8) Know national policies and strategies for the prevention and intervention of addiction. 9) Work in cooperation with relevant institutions and people on the prevention and intervention of addiction.

COURSE DEFINITION	Basic concepts and definitions, addiction types (substance addiction, technological addiction, etc.) Causes of addiction, familial, friend related and public risk elements preparing the person for substance addiction process, communication skills of addicted child, adolescents and adults, the role of social service in addiction, models of addiction, efforts for preventing addiction; results of addiction, national policies and strategy methods fighting with addiction; re-accommodation process.
COURSE CONTENTS	WEEK TOPICS 1st Week Introduction-Course introduction 2nd Week Addiction-related concepts and theoretical explanations 3rd Week Dependency-developmental processes (biological-neurological-social-emotional-cognitive processes) 4th Week Addiction types and risks-threats 5th Week Addiction types and risks-threats 6th Week Addiction in different age groups and family 7th Week Dependence and training environments in different age groups 8th Week Midterm 9th Week Dependence and communication skills in different age groups 10th Week National policies and local practices on interdependence struggle,interinstitutional cooperation 11th Week Prevention and intervention principles according to addiction types-individual differences. Addiction as health and safety issue. 12th Week Formal and civilian institutions that can give support in prevention and intervention studies according to the types of addiction. 13th Week Observation of addiction prevention and intervention programs and practices 14th Week Evaluation
