LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Explain the basic concepts of measurement and evaluation.
2) Follow the process of test construction.
3) Discuss the the appropriateness of instruments used in professional field for operational definitions and purpose of measurement.
4) Examine the types of items and interpret item and test statistics.
5) Discuss the psychometric properties of the instruments used in own professional field and scores obtained them.
6) Intrepret the outputs of statistics obtained form the instruments used in own professional field.
7) Distinguish which purpose of of the results obtained form instruments used in own professional field is used.

COURSE DEFINITIONIssues of measurement and evaluation, basic concepts of measurement and evaluation, psychometric properties of measurement instruments (reliability, validity, utility), test development and practises, describing and summarizing and feedback of measurement results, analyses of test and item scores and grading.

2nd Week Measurement of structures like achievement, attitude, interest etc. and classification of results for GPC purposes
3rd Week Issues of developing measurement instruments
4th Week Measuring cognitive and affective constructs
5th Week Psychometric properties of measurement results: types of error and reliability
6th Week Psychometric properties of measurement results: Procedures for estimating reliability
7th Week Psychometric properties of measurement results: Validity
8th Week Midterm
9th Week Psychometric Properties Of Measurement Results: Types of Validity And Procedures of Collecting Evidence for Validity
10th Week Interpretation of Test Scores, Norms And Norm Tables.
11th Week Examination of Different Item Types in Measurement Tools Used in the Related Professional Field

13th Week Evaluation of Large Scale Standard Tests Used in Turkey
