COURSE DEFINITIONIn this course, the definition and classification of the legends which are evaluated in the scope of Turkish folk literature are made and the legends such as Ergenekon, Manas, Yaratılış, Türeyiş, Göç are analyzed. General information about the transition period legends as Köroğlu, Dede Korkut are given. These legends are investigated and comprised with other literary varieties.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week What is epic? Formation conditions, phases and properties.
2nd Week Function of myth in the epic, issues, beliefs and ideas of the formation and development of systems in place.
3rd Week Turks gathered from MITI texts (creation, the flood and doomsday on) on the investigations
4th Week the old Turkish belief system elements(Tengricilik,nature-ancestors cults,shamanism, Buddhism, maniheism
5th Week MITI texts and historical-legend epics between similarities and differences
6th Week Who is narrator? The epic of exercise, the epic hero
7th Week Classification of the epic is a matter- before Is. Turkish epos: Şu, Alp er Tunga, Göktürk and Uygur epos: Oguz Khan epos
8th Week Mid-term exam
9th Week Epic of the Turkish-Islamic period: Battalname,Danişmentname: studies on type-From "alp" to "alperen" and "gazi":"Köroğlu"
10th Week The book of "Dede Korkut"
11th Week The world of the Turkish community epos: Kyrgyz epos and epic tradition-Manas
12th Week The epic heroism and tradition of the Turkish Altaic and Şor
13th Week Tuva and Başkurt Turks epos and epic tradition
14th Week Kazak and Uygur Turks epos and epic tradition
