LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1)
Knows the characteristics of psychological development in childhood.
2) Can recognize mental and behavioral disorders in childhood.
3) Knows the causes of mental and behavioral disorders in childhood and the correct approaches to mental and behavioral disorders in childhood.
4) It guides families to reach specialists in case of mental and behavioral disorders during childhood.

COURSE DEFINITIONAt the end of this course, students will learn the definition and importance of mental health, the historical development of mental health, theories about mental health, the characteristics of individuals with and without mental health, behavioral and adaptation problems seen in children [stuttering, inability to speak (mutism), bedwetting (enuresis), etc.). fecal incontinence (encopresis), thumb sucking, nail biting, aggression, jealousy, tics, stubbornness, sleep disorders, eating habit disorder, fear, attention deficit and hyperactivity, school fear, theft, lying), diagnosis and treatment of special situations in the family Examines the effects of divorce (divorce, step-parents, parent's death, etc.) on the child's mental health.

1st Week Definition of mental health, its importance, historical development of mental health
2nd Week Characteristics of individuals with and without mental health
3rd Week Theoretical basis of mental health
4th Week Theoretical basis of mental health
5th Week Behavior and adaptation problems seen in children are stuttering, mutism, bedwetting (enuresis), fecal incontinence (encopresis),
6th Week Diagnosis and treatment of behavioral and adaptation problems seen in children: thumb sucking, nail biting, aggression, jealousy, tics, stubbornness, sleep disorders, fear of school, theft, lying.
7th Week Diagnosis and treatment of behavioral and adaptation problems in children, eating habits disorder, fear, attention deficit and hyperactivity, fear of school, stealing, lying
