LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) will improve their skills in observing 3D objects and architectural spaces,
2) will be able to draw 3D objects and architectural spaces that they observe via various freehand drawing techniques and/or CAD software.
3) will be able to draw 3D objects and architectural spaces that they imagine or design via various freehand drawing techniques and/or CAD software.
4) Will have experience on the use of various sketching and rendering materials, and
5) will be able to present the texture, colour, and light effects on paper with various rendering techniques.

RECOMMENDED OPTIONAL PROGRAMME COMPONENT-
COURSE DEFINITIONThis course is designed for the students to gain the awareness of importance of architectural sketching in design development process and architectural presentations; and to learn one-point and two-point perspective drawing techniques. The students will learn freehand perspective drawing of the 3D objects and architectural spaces that they visually observe and/or design. Additionally, they learn to present texture, material and light of surfaces in drawings and sketches using various rendering and sketching materials like lead pencils, colored pencils, dry pastels and markers.

2nd Week Types of lines and line values in 3D architectural sketching and perspective drawings & freehand perspective drawing rules
3rd Week Composition, proportion and solid-void relation in space
4th Week Light and shadow & values in rendering
5th Week Use of color and texture in architectural drawings
6th Week One-point perspective and rendering - Sketching buildings and exteriors
7th Week One-point perspective and rendering - Sketching buildings and exteriors
8th Week Improving portfolios
9th Week MIDTERM EXAM
10th Week Two-point perspective and rendering - sketching interiors
