At the end of this course, the students; 1) Recognize the basic concepts of building science and use them in their following courses and research. 2) Understand the relationship between building, technology, material and structure and develop a holistic approach towards them. 3) Evaluate building component systems in the context of user-environment-building interaction and identify suitable systems in design projects. 4) Recognize traditional and contemporary structural systems and incorporate structural knowledge into the design process. 5) Be able to design by using the tectonic potentials of the structure and material.

COURSE DEFINITION
This course has been designed to give the initial knowledge on building science in the field of architecture. One of the main objectives of the course is to make students understand that technology, material and structural knowledge should be considered as a design input in the design process. Accordingly, the course focuses on enabling students to understand the structure and its relationship with the material as a design tool and to follow a holistic design process.
