LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Gain competence of correlating, interpreting past, present and future in design field

COURSE DEFINITIONWithin the framework of trans-formation of art; the social, political and economical processes in the east and in the west are examined in relation to the art movements from Renaissance till the 19th century.

2nd Week Anatolian Turkish Art; Seljuk Period architecture, ornamental art, the effects of Sufi thinking on art forms
3rd Week Anatolian Turkish Art Application Models
4th Week Ottoman Art; Early, Classic, Westernized.
5th Week Renaissance Thinking and the Development of Renaissance Art
6th Week Early Renaissance; Giotto, Dante, Petrarch
7th Week MIDTERM
8th Week Early Renaissance Art (sculpture,architecture, painting, music); Donatello, Brunelleschi, Alberti, Ghiberti, Massaccio, Botticelli; madrigals
9th Week 16th Century Florence and Rome; Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael; the Art of portrait, film on Life of Leonardo da Vinci
10th Week The Art of Venice; Titian, Tintoretto, manerizm; Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Rubens, Goya, Velazquez)
11th Week The Protestan and Catholic Reformation and its Effects on Art
