LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT	At the end of this course, the students; 1) Gain postgraduate level of knowledge, analysis, evaluation and inference on sustainable ecology and sustainable development 2) Know the necessary resources related to the subject of the course 3) Understand the character of the formations and forces of change related to the subject of the course 4) Comprehend how to integrate the knowledge related to the subject of the course 5) Reach to the level of constructing valid policy decisions related to the subject of the course and making sustainable environmental planning 6) As a result of all the above, gain the higher understanding and develop alternative practices about ecological and industrial monitoring, sustaina-ble management, ecological restoration, conversion and removal of pollutants.

COURSE DEFINITION	This course mainly focuses on sustainability which has an integrated character with its social, economic and environmental dimensions and Sustainable Devel-opment Goals. It will provide knowledge, understanding and critical conscious-ness on the main sustainability issues of social wellbeing, environmental health and general economic prosperity. Doing so, it will dwell on prevailing condi-tions, reasons and probable solutions related with (a) biodiversity, (b) envi-ronmental degradation, (c) waste, (d) climate change, (e) and systemic limits such as carrying capacity and food, water and energy resources, industrial and consumer culture, (f) prevailing and probable solutions such as renewable en-ergy, water and waste management, green policies, environmental and social justice and responsibility, (g) and hindering factors such as relations of orga-nized power and vested interest.
COURSE CONTENTS	WEEK TOPICS 1st Week Basic information about the course and student responsibilities 2nd Week Ecology and ecological system:Concept, properties, features/components and importance of ecosystems Structure, types, functions and interrelations of ecosystems 3rd Week Need for ecological sustainability:Present conditions of the land, air and water ecosystems 4th Week Organized human life and enduring and increasing problems in human conditions in the World 5th Week Economic development: Why and for whom? Explanations of conflicting major theories Meaning and need for economic sustainability Connections of economy and ecosystems on sustainability 6th Week Sustainable development for sustainable ecological system or vice versa: Diverse explanations. What kinds of feasible choice corporations have? Whose environmental footprints are determining? What is your position in creation of environmental conditions?
