LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Understand content of functional genomics, physical mapping of the genome and sequence analysis technologies.
2) Learn functional genomic applications for diagnosis of genetic diseases.
3) Understand gene identification, genome annotation and comparative genomic approaches using bioinformatics tools.
4) Understand integrative genomics and systems biology, and meta-genomics approaches.
5) Perform literature review on a topic of interest of the course content, and discuss results.

COURSE DEFINITIONThe aim of this course is to introduce the methods used in bioinformatics and functional genomics. This course will discuss how eukaryotic organisms respond to various conditions at the whole genome level.
