LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Understand the cell and molecular biology of microorganisms and their genetics.
2) Learn The principles of microbial growth and control.
3) Understand the metabolic diversity of microorganisms and basic concepts of microbial ecology.
4) Learn the virus biology and genetics.
5) Understand the basic concepts of infectious diseases, the immunological response to these diseases and host-parasite relationship.

COURSE DEFINITIONMicrobiology course gives information about cellular structure, genetics, metabolism, growth conditions of microorganisms and their interactions with the environment. Also, it aims to provide practical skills about sterilization techniques and in vitro growth, analysis methods of metabolic activity and identification tests of microorganisms.
