COURSE DEFINITION
The aim of the course is to teach student the modal and maqam harmony in both theoretical and practical ways.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEK
TOPICS
1st Week
Introduction to Modal and Maqam Harmony, concepts of mode and maqam.
2nd Week
Definitions of intervals and chords to be used in modal harmony, diatonic scale-chords and symbols.
Saba melody core, analysis, chord structures. Applications in the core of Kurdi melodies.
13th Week
Saba, Saba-Zemzeme melody core, chord structures, practices. Hicaz and Saba melody core progressions.
14th Week
Practices in various modes and various maqam-melody cores.
