COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Introduction to Classical
2nd Week Chords in major and minor tonalities. Principles for chord progressions between chords which have common tones.
3rd Week Choral and piano textures. Open and close positioning.
4th Week Basic functions. Realization of a given bass.
5th Week Principles of chord progression between chords without a common tone. plagal and authentic cadences. Performing cadences.
6th Week Non-chord tones. Realization of a given bass. Analysis.
7th Week Substitute chords. Realization of a given bass. Analysis.
8th Week Midterm exam
9th Week First inversion chords. Realization of a given bass. Analysis.
10th Week Second inversion chords. Realization of a given bass (figured/unfigured) and melody.. Analysis. Ear training and performing tasks.
11th Week Dominant seventh chord. Realization of a given bass (figured/unfigured) and melody.. Analysis.
12th Week Dominant seventh chord without root. Realization of a given bass (figured/unfigured) and melody.. Analysis. Ear training and performing tasks.
13th Week Dominant ninth chord.
14th Week Dominant seventh chord in first inversion.
