LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Composers, who lived the birth and development processes of music from the beginning to the present, from the renaissance to the beginning of the romantic period; learns biographies, important musical works, stylistic information of the composer, important historical information according to periods, and masters the instrument repertoire.

COURSE DEFINITIONInformation about the composers of the Renaissance, Baroque and Classical period. Analysis of appropriate works in terms of form, genre, style, composition techniques and content.

1st Week Early, mid and late Renaissance: Beginings, music genres, specifications of the music of the period, important composers: G. PALESTRINA
2nd Week Early, mid and late Baroque: Beginings, music genres, specifications of the music of the period.
3rd Week Early Baroque period: Composers and their biographies, musical styles, important works: C. MONTEVERDI, W. BYRD, J. BULL.
4th Week Early Baroque period: Composers and their biographies, musical styles, important works: A.FRESCOBALD
5th Week Mid Baroque period: Composers and their biographies, musical styles, important works: J.B. LULLY, J.C.BACH
6th Week Late Baroque period: Composers and their biographies, musical styles, important works: H.PURCELL, F.COUPERIN, J.P.RAMEAU
7th Week Late Baroque period: Composers and their biographies, musical styles, important works: G.F.HAENDEL, D.SCARLATTI, J.S.BACH
8th Week MIDTERM
9th Week Transition to classical period; ROCOCO; specifications of the period, musical styles.
10th Week Classical period: Beginings, music genres, specifications of the music of the period, important composers.
11th Week J. HAYDN, biography, importance of the composer, instrumental repertoire, musical style, important instrumental works.
12th Week W.A.MOZART, biography, importance of the composer, instrumental repertoire, musical style, important instrumental works.
13th Week Ludwig van BEETHOVEN, biography, importance of the composer, instrumental repertoire, musical style, important instrumental works.
14th Week The end of the classical period and preparation for the romantic era.
