COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Brief introduction of the course, the resources to be used and the way of studying.
2nd Week The development of polyphony in Europe.
3rd Week Chord organizations in major and minor tones.
4th Week Basic functions. Harmonization, melody and bass harmonization, analysis studies, harmonic listening exercises, practical accompaniment of melodies.
5th Week Cadences. Harmonization, melody and bass harmonization, analysis studies, harmonic listening exercises, practical accompaniment of melodies.
6th Week Sounds foreign to harmony. Hrmonization, melody and bass harmonization, analysis studies, harmonic listening exercises, practical accompaniment of melodies.
7th Week Side functions. Harmonization, melody and bass harmonization, analysis studies, harmonic listening exercises, practical accompaniment of melodies.
8th Week MIDTERM
9th Week 6th chords. Harmonization, melody and bass harmonization, analysis studies, harmonic listening exercises, practical accompaniment of melodies.
10th Week 4/6 chord. Harmonization, melody and bass harmonization, analysis studies, harmonic listening exercises, practical accompaniment of melodies.
11th Week Dominant 7th chord. Harmonization, melody and bass harmonization, analysis studies, harmonic listening exercises, practical accompaniment of melodies.
12th Week Rootless dominant 7th chord. Harmonization, melody and bass harmonization, analysis studies, harmonic listening exercises, practical accompaniment of melodies.
13th Week Dominant 9th chord - A rootless dominant 9th chord. Harmonization, melody and bass harmonization, analysis studies, harmonic listening exercises, practical accompaniment of melodies.
14th Week Dominant 5/6 chord. harmonization, melody and bass harmonization, analysis studies, harmonic listening exercises, practical accompaniment of melodies.
