COURSE DEFINITIONLearns the forms related to vocal and instrumental music style in Turkish music. Recognizes Simple Methods.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Conceptual framework: culture, tradition, traditional music, art music, folk music, military music, religious music.
2nd Week Historical sources and institutions of TTM.
3rd Week Development of TTM in Anatolia: main periods, some leading names and sources.
4th Week Structural Elements of TTM 1: tones, intervals and melodic modules.
5th Week Structural Elements of TTM 2: "makam" and "usul".
6th Week "Usul"s 1: Concepts and historical background; the terms of "ika", "nakre", "darp", "sakil", "hafif", "evvel", "sani".
7th Week "Usul"s 2: Present-day knowledge and practise: "darp"s, "düm" and "tek"s.
8th Week Midterm.
9th Week "Makam"s: Conceptual and historical framework.
10th Week Basic Makam Families 1: Hüseyni Family 1: Hüseyni, Muhayyer, Gerdaniye, Necid Hüseyni, Gülizar.
11th Week Basic Makam Families 2: Uşşak Family: Uşşak, Bayati, Isfahan, Neva, Tahir, Karcığar, Acem.
12th Week Basic Makam Families 3: Hicaz Family: Hicaz, Uzzal, Zengüle (Zirgüle), Humayun, Hicazkar, Şedaraban, Nühüft.
13th Week Basic Makam Families 4: Kürdi Family: Kürdi, Muhayyer Kürdi, Acem Kürdi, Kürdlihicazkar, Saba, Kuçek ve Saba Zemzeme.
14th Week Basic Makam Families 5: Buselik Family: Buselik, Nihavend, Sultaniyegah, Şehnaz, Şehnaz Buselik, Hisar Buselik.
