At the end of this course, the students; 1) Develop a perspective on the issue of citizenship, and the role and impact of the state and society over the citizenship issues. 2) Analyze and assess the issues and problems of Turkish citizenship. 3) Examines the status of citizenship in the global arena.

COURSE DEFINITION
This course focuses on the issue of citizenship in Turkey together with the roles, impacts, and views of the state and society with respect to citizenship. Firstly, different theories of citizenship and approaches will be introduced. The process of the construction of citizenship in Turkey, its interaction with the nation-building process, the developments-constitutional, legal, political, and social- throughout the Republican history and current debates on Turkish citizenship comprise the content of the course.
