At the end of this course, the students; 1) develop a perspective of the globalization process. 2) examine the impact of globalization over the nation-state, economy, and society. 3) develop a perspective of Turkey's experiences in the globalization process.

COURSE DEFINITION
This course aims at assessing Turkey's experiences with globalization that became a worldwide phenomenon, and the transformations Turkey experienced in this process. Different views, the negative and positive approaches will be assessed in order to understand what globalization is (or is not, or what is aspires to be). The reflections of the main topics, namely conceptualization, nation-state, economy, culture and identity, on the Turkish experience will be analyzed and discussed in parallel with theoretical discussions. In this course the students meet with basic concepts and approaches to globalization and they can interagrate thie backgrounds in political science and international relations with globalization studies.
