1) Know the concept of interest and the factors affecting interest rates
2) Know different debt market instruments and bond market
3) Know the basic principles of bank management
4) Know the role of the Central Bank in the economy
5) Know the aims, methods of monetary policy and the powers of the monetary board
6) Know the features of the foreign currency market and the formation process of exchange rates

COURSE DEFINITIONAn understanding of the nature and the importance of money. A comprehensive survey of the role of each of the major financial institutions; such as commercial banks, investment banks, central bank, stock markets. The emphasis of the course is on the management of these institutions and the role of money in the financial system of the country.
