LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Explain Principles of Atatürk and main concepts related to Revolution history.
2) Explain the concepts of Reform/Revolution.
3) Describe the concept of National Forces.
4) Explain the concepts of Republic/Democracy.
5) Recognize the concept of Ideology.
6) Explain the main points of the period related to Turkish War of Independence and foundation of the Turkish State.
7) Explain the developments at Ottoman Empire before Turkish Revolution.
8) Describe the World War I and its results.

COURSE DEFINITIONPrinciples of Atatürk and History of Revolution I course, outlined the qualifications of the Ottoman Empire, the internal and external reasons of the collapse of the Empire, the policies of the Western industrialized states against the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century also the national dimension of the war of independence and the development of compulsory causes of war are described in detail.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Ataturk's Principles and History of Revolution objectives of teaching courses, Revolution and Revolution concepts, ideas about Atatürk, the Turkish Revolution, the main features of the Turkish Revolution.
2nd Week Internal and External Causes of the Collapse of the Ottoman Empire, Tanzimat and Constitutional Periods, Intellectual Movements in Constitutional Era
3rd Week Tripoli, Balkan, I. World Wars and the Armistice.
4th Week The condition of the country against the occupation , Useful and Harmful Societies, The arrival of Mustafa Kemal to Samsun.
5th Week M. Kemal's decision-National Struggle, Amasya Circular, Erzurum and Sivas Congresses.
6th Week Amasya and Sivas Meeting, the Board of Representation to arrive in Ankara, The acceptance of National Pact.
7th Week The opening of National Assembly , internal revolts, their causes and consequences.
8th Week Turkish-Soviet relations, the Eastern Front, the Treaties of Moscow and Kars
9th Week MIDTERM
10th Week The Armenian Question, the Turkish-Armenian War and the Treaty of Gümrü
11th Week South Side-Ankara Agreement, the Western Front-I. İnönü, the London Conference, II. İnönü, Eskişehir-Kütahya Wars.
12th Week Battle of Sakarya, Mudanya Armistice.
13th Week The Treaty of Lausanne
14th Week Resolutions and Decisions of the Lausanne Treaty and evoluation of its decisions according to National Pact.
