LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Learning textile types and having conceptual knowledge of textiles in the interiors (color-texture, etc.)
2) Ability to select the appropriate textile materials in the application processes of design
3) Obtaining the theoretical knowledge of the use of textiles on surfaces which is suitable for the project

COURSE DEFINITIONIt is aimed to gain the ability to recognize the types of textile materials used in the interior and to evaluate the material selections in the application processes.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Introduction, transferring the course contents and expectations about the course, introducing the resources to be used for the course
2nd Week Identification of interior perception-perception components. Interior surface (Ceiling-Wall-Floor) color-light and texture relationship. Space perception, color-form interaction, presentation of pattern form examples.
3rd Week General definition of textile material. Discussion of interior space-textile relationship. Textile material performance and classification (Acoustic-Fire etc.) Textile material selection criteria.
4th Week Textile material selection criteria. Natural Fibers-vegetable and animal fibers- metallic fibers, mineral fibers, man-made fibers and their definitions
5th Week Textile, interior and furniture design interaction
6th Week Midterm assessment I- Project critiques and class discussion
7th Week MIDTERM
8th Week Types of textiles in interiors-Usage areas-Types of textiles in interiors-Textile and sustainability criteria
9th Week Workshop-Research on textile samples
10th Week Interior-concept creation-interior dressing. The use of textiles in vertical elements; curtain types
11th Week Furniture-textile and application examples (Upholstery Techniques)
12th Week Textile use on the floor: Carpets
13th Week Presentation critiques-repetition
14th Week Presentation critiques-repetition
