COURSE DEFINITIONThe buildings we live in mean more than meeting our needs for accommodation. The design of the interior spaces should take into account not only the level of comfort, the principles of spatial design and some aesthetic concerns, but also the feeling of peace and security. The risks that emerge during an event of an emergency situation and a disaster, and the damages caused by these events effect the human life, the buildings and interiors in a negative way. The precautions and applications are needed in the early stages of design in order to avoid possible problems during emergency. The objective of the course is to gain the main knowledge of precautions at interior spaces in case of emergencies and disasters correlated with the evacuation route systems, protection behaviors, panic behaviors and disaster losses. The objective of the course is to encourage the students to develop creative skills, to cultivate strong critical thinking, to have independent thinking skills and to discover the answers or ideas between disaster affects and interior spaces under unexpected conditions.
