1) Learn the historical development of social policies.
2) Learn to analyse different social policy regimes from a comparative perspective.
3) Learn different and specific social policy contexts.
4) Learn to ask critical research questions in the field of social policy.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course focuses on the relationships between social policy, social rights, capitalism and nation-state. Following that, a historical analysis is made on the political economy and the ideological transformation leading to the development of social policy. Later, the course analyses in a comparative perspective the different social policies in different political structures. At the same time, the course focus on the development of critical and theoretical research questions in social policy area in political science and give readings and assignments in this manner.
