At the end of this course, the students; 1) develop an overview of the major areas of study in political sociology. 2) examine the current political developments from different perspectives. 3) relate the daily political events to the concepts and theories of political sociology. 4) discuss political events from sociological perspective. 5) explain the relations of politics, political institutions and society from different perspectives. 6) inquiry the relations between state and society created by the transformation of the globalization process. 7) inquiry the relations of social movements and politics.

COURSE DEFINITION
The aim of this course is to introduce the main themes and the main theoretical approaches in political sociology and to evaluate the contribution of these theoretical approaches to academic studies. The course, first of all, focus on the concepts of politics, power and authority, and then the main approaches in political sociology, economy and politics, civil society and politics, civil society and state, society and state, social movements, political culture, political participation, religion, society and politics and law, are discussed.
