LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) have information and ideas about the terms and concepts related to textile handicrafts and the techniques used.
2) gain the ability and proficiency to apply the applications within the scope of textile handicrafts in accordance with their technique.
3) can benefit from these techniques in their clothing and accessory designs.

COURSE DEFINITIONDefinition of textile handicrafts, an overview of handicrafts from history to the present. Traditional weavings (multiplier, carpet, rug and other flat weavings) Creating sample products related to handicrafts.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Definition, scope and importance of handicrafts. Classification according to raw material. Classification of handicrafts within the scope of textile, the raw material of which is fiber. The place and importance of textile handicrafts in fashion design.
2nd Week Awareness of protecting our cultural heritage. In this context, getting to know local textile handicrafts,
3rd Week importance of learning and practice.
4th Week Transfer of knowledge for group work according to the classification of textile handicrafts. of groups
5th Week creation and topic sharing.
6th Week hand knitting; general information about knitting needle, crochet and needle knitting. Needle knitting techniques presentation; example applications. Crochet knitting techniques presentation; example applications.
7th Week Needle knitting and sun lace techniques presentation, sample applications
8th Week General information of felt making (definition, history, place and importance, tools and equipment, production technique) presentation; example applications
9th Week General knowledge of hand weaving. Presentation of plain kirkit (kilim, cicim, zili, sumak) weavings; example applications.
10th Week Midterm. Applications on selected topics.
11th Week Presentation of weavings with pile kite (carpet, tulle/cacala) and multiplier; example applications
12th Week Fabric/cloth weaving presentation; example applications
13th Week Tying/ Knot jobs general information. Macrame and Kastamonu knot (tie sheets) techniques presentation; example applications
14th Week Presentation of general and technical information about Kırkyama/ Patchwork; example applications.
15th Week General information about hand painting and printing techniques. Presentation of patterns and reserve printing techniques; example applications
16th Week Presentation and critique of applied studies.
