1) Will be able to explain textile fibres.
2) Classify the textile fibres.
3) Explain the production methods of natural and man-made fibres.
4) Classify the natural fibres and man-made fibres.
5) Explain the differences between synthetic and regenerated fibres.
6) Explain the advanced and functional fibres.
7) Will be able to describe textile yarns and production methods.
8) Explain the processes used to produce yarns from staple fibres.
9) Recognize the different types and qualities of yarns.
10) Explain the production and differences between combed and carded yarns.
11) Compare compact yarns and conventional ring spinning yarns.
12) Relate yarn types to end-use performances.
13) Identify ring spinning, open end rotor spinning, and vortex spinning.
14) Will be able to describe knit fabrics and their production methods.
15) Describe the main differences between woven and knitted fabrics
16) Describe how the knitting machines produce fabrics.
17) Identify the similarities and differences between knitted fabric types.
18) Describe the main factors that influence knitted fabric quality.
19) Describe the end uses for each type of fabrics.
20) Explain the relationship between fabric structure and end use.

COURSE DEFINITIONDefinition and classification of textile fibers, fiber structures and basic properties; Examination of usage areas in line with these features. Basic information on yarn production technology, yarn counting systems, weaving, knitting technologies, finishing and finishing processes and apparel.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Classification of textile fibres and their properties. Production methods of natural fibres, physical and chemical properties and end uses.
2nd Week Production methods of natural fibres, physical and chemical properties and end-uses.
3rd Week Description and classification of chemical fibres, production methods. Man made fibres: production methods, physical and chemical properties and end-uses.
4th Week Regenerated fibres, properties and end-uses. Advanced, high performance and functional fibers.
5th Week Introduction to yarn technology. Definition of yarn, classification of yarns and yarn production methods.
6th Week MidTerm Exam
7th Week Material preparation stages of yarn production. Combed yarns.
8th Week Comparison of combed and carded yarn properties.
9th Week Yarn production systems: ring spinning, open end spinning, air jet and vortex spinning.
10th Week Yarn production systems: ring spinning, open end spinning, air jet and vortex spinning.
11th Week Wool spinning. Classification of the yarn properties. Description of knitting technology, history of knitting, main elements of knitting machine.
12th Week MidTerm Exam
13th Week Basic knit structures and their properties.
14th Week Stitch types and fabric characteristics of knitted fabrics
