1) Can compare the theories and approaches about the self.
2) Be able to relate to the most up-to-date literature on other concepts related to the self-concept with a social psychological approach.
3) Will be able to analyze the process of self-development that continues throughout life.
4) Get to know their own selves as much as possible.
5) Evaluate and distinguish the role of culture on self.

COURSE DEFINITIONSelf consciousness, symbolic interaction, self concept, self esteem, self and information processing, self regulation, self and culture are the topics discussed in this course. Although social psychological theories of self are considered the primary sources of research on psychology of self, historical, sociological and cultural models are also evaluated.
