At the end of this course, the students; 1) Define evolution. 2) Establish the connection between psychology and evolution. 3) Be able to apply evolutionary theory to individual and cultural differences. 4) Be able to critically evaluate the hypothesis and studies within evolutionary psychology. 5) Be able to synthesis different viewpoints relating to the evolution of human mind and behavior.

COURSE DEFINITION
This course provides an introduction to evolutionary psychology. In this context, the primary focus of the course is on how human mind and behavior have been shaped by evolutionary processes, in terms of natural selection and sexual selection. The aim of the course is to consider how principles from evolutionary biology can be applied to understanding personality and individual differences in modern society. The course covers recent research findings and theoretical issues in evolutionary psychology, including learning mechanisms, mating, parenting, kinship, cooperation, aggression, and other social relations.
