At the end of this course, the students; 1) Identify basic personality theories. 2) Explain main concepts and principles of the personality theories. 3) Knows the basic assumptions of schools represented by personality theories. 4) Compare theories and be able to present one?s views about important and functional aspects of each theory. 5) Knows the criticisms and theoretical shortcomings of personality theories. 6) Integrate knowledge of personality theories with knowledge from other fields of psychology.

COURSE DEFINITION
In this course students acquire the knowledge of personality and theories of personality. Another main aim of the course to teach students influential personality theories by a comparative methodology. Therefore, psychoanalytic and neopsychoanalytic theories, biological theories, behaviorist theories, cognitive and social-cognitive theories, humanistic and existential theories, trait theories will be covered through the course as well as topics gender differences, interpersonal dynamics, cultural and ethnic factors.
