LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT |
At the end of this course, the students; 1) Will develop their critical thinking dispositions in a positive way. 2) Will explain how to identify the differences between science and pseudoscience and can test the propositions they come across in the light of this knowledge. 3) Will develop a positive attitude towards science and scientific method. 4) Will define the changes that scientific knowledge and methodology have undergone throughout history and the dogmatic approaches that oppose these changes. 5) Similar to philosophers, they will convey their own feelings, thoughts and arguments by applying the necessary rhetorical knowledge. 6) Will predict the contribution of philosophical developments to the science of psychology.

COURSE DEFINITION | This course is designed to convey the methods needed to develop more effective reasoning and improved cognitive skills. The main purpose of the course is to test the accuracy of the presented claims and arguments and to convey the methods related to making reasonable decisions considering what we know or what we think we know. In addition, this course, which covers concepts such as scientific method, reality and appearance, existential philosophy, human nature, critical thinking, pseudoscience, awareness, is designed to provide students with information on the development stages of scientific methods in general. |
