LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) understand, identify and evaluate the various types of debate and discussion processes
2) learn how to hold a debate and discussion in a public environment
3) use skills of debate and discussion in a variety of forms
4) generate critical thinking into issues in the given topic
5) foster collobration and respect for peers through debating
6) support the debating issues as the affirmative side
7) support the debating issues as the negative side
8) use debating skills for academic pursuits.

RECOMMENDED OPTIONAL PROGRAMME COMPONENT-
COURSE DEFINITIONENGL 301 is a course that enables students to demonstrate an understanding of the introductory principles of a debate. Throughout this course, students will learn to become a more effective and active listener. Students will learn how to structure and support arguments, and practise those skills in individual speaking, partnered and group contexts. Students will also participate in debates with classmates on issues of social importance.
