At the end of this course, the students; 1) will be able to analyze contemporary American fiction produced since 2000s in the light of contemporary literary and theoretical approaches 2) will be able to discuss the differences between 20th and 21st century American fiction. 3) will be able evaluate how 21st century American writers respond to the social,cultural and political issues of their time

COURSE DEFINITION
This course introduces students to contemporary American literature with particular focus on short stories and novels written since 2000 and aims to acquaint students with the historical, social, cultural and political contexts of 21st century American literature, which dramatically changed after the 9/11 attacks. It also provides them with the necessary critical and theoretical background of 21st century American studies.
