At the end of this course, the students; 1) will be able to discuss how the American theater developed during the twentieth century as a form distinct from its modern European counterparts, 2) will be able to analyze the ideas and techniques modern American drama makes use of.

COURSE DEFINITION
Beginning with an introduction to the development of the American theatre, this course will focus on modern American dramatists such as Glaspell, O'Neill, Miller, Albee, Shepard, and Mamet, among others.
