At the end of this course, the students; 1) will be able to point out how classical mythology is brought into play in Western literature and art, both thematically and structurally, 2) will be able to discuss the general characteristics of myth with examples from Classical mythology.

COURSE DEFINITION
This course is an introduction to the origins and characteristics of myth, with particular emphasis on classical mythology, literature, and art. The course surveys the major figures and cycles of classical mythology through selections from both primary and secondary sources.
