LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) develop an understanding of the various concepts and methods used in memory studies and essay film.
2) get experience in media productions with a spirit of an essay writer.
3) learn to produce works that combines several audio-visual material (photograph, animation, sound, illustration, found images etc.).

COURSE DEFINITIONThis interdisciplinary course that combines both practice and theory, concentrates on memory studies and the hybrid genre of essay film. The forms that approach the images and concepts of production critically; different usages of various visual and audio material such as photograph, video, animation, sound, illustration, found image and found footage are explained within the context of works of the pioneer directors of memory and photo essay and essay films are produced by the means of the theoretical knowledge.
