COURSE DEFINITIONThis course is a study of Management Science (Operations Research) approaches in an organization. Students will gain an understanding of modeling and rational approaches to simulation and its contribution to organizational effectiveness. Analysis and communication are emphasized by using real-world applications and cases. Topics include system dynamics, simulation basics, discrete-event simulation, model building, simulation optimization and modeling various real business systems applied to tactical and strategic business decisions in functional areas and interfaces among these areas. Implementation using existing software packages of decision models to solve various real-world business problems is an integrated part of this course.
