At the end of this course, the students; 1) Describe the nature and role of each financial institution in the financial system 2) Explain how different types of financial institutions operate 3) Comply with the rules of regulations relevant to financial institutions 4) Identify the unique management problems faced by most financial institutions and formulate feasible solutions to those problems 5) Generally master the basic techniques adopted by financial institutions for making management decisions 6) Estimate and control the risk exposures of various financial institutions

COURSE DEFINITION
An examination of the financial markets with emphasis on the linkage between saving and investment to create new wealth and to permit portfolio adjustments in the composition of existing wealth. The role of financial institutions and markets in our economy, and the understanding of the investment environment, money markets, bond markets, stock markets, derivative markets, foreign exchange markets and some other markets.
