LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT |
At the end of this course, the students; 1) Define money and its aggregate measures 2) Demonstrate knowledge of the current monetary aggregates in Turkey and how they have developed over recent years 3) Explain multiple credit creation, money supply and the money creation process 4) Describe the functions of the central bank, and its role in Turkey 5) Authority and the monetary policy in Turkey 6) Depict different types of bonds and the Turkish bond market 7) Distinguish various interest rates and explain the term structure of interest rates 8) Illustrate and evaluate the foreign exchange market and the linked exchange rate system in Turkey 9) Analyse the impact of monetary changes on nominal income.

COURSE DEFINITION | An understanding of the nature and the importance of money. A comprehensive survey of the role of each of the major financial institutions; such as commercial banks, investment banks, central bank, stock markets. The emphasis of the course is on the management of these institutions and the role of money in the financial system of the country. |
