LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Explain the relationship between a manager's need for information and his/her position in the organization;
2) Explain how hardware, software, data, people, and procedures are combined to form an information system
3) Explain how information technology can be used by a business organization to gain a competitive advantage
4) Develop an awareness of critical issues faced by the MIS profession, including international information flow, legal and ethical issues of information usage, and security and privacy of data resources
5) Develop problem solving and managerial decision making skills using information systems and information technology

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course requires the student to apply the management principles and information technology knowledge from prior course work to the specific requirements of managing the information resources of the organization. The course focuses on information needs of management, design of management information systems with respect to managerial objectives, information processing, and control, and use of information technology at managerial processes and decision making level.
