LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT	At the end of this course, the students; 1) will have knowledge and analytical opinion related with the issues of criminology and field of forensic social work 2) will be able to prepare themselves to have professional duties in the field of forensic social work.

COURSE DEFINITION	This course is focused on developing an understanding of clinical social work practice with criminals in prisons, probation services, juvenile and adult services. Attention will be given to issues of the rehabilitation and the therapy of offenders and also the unjustly treated persons.
COURSE CONTENTS	WEEK TOPICS 1st Week Criminology and social work. 2nd Week Analysis of the Turkish criminal justice system. 3rd Week Basic elements of forensic social work. Defining forensic social work with diverse population. 4th Week History of forensic social work. 5th Week Juvenile justice and social work. The role and functions of social worker in the juvenile justice system. 6th Week Social work with juvenile delinquents. Practice of social work intervention methods and techniques Case study. 7th Week Child abuse and social work. 8th Week Mid term exam. 9th Week Forensic social work with adult offenders. The role and functions of social workers in the execution institutions like prisons. 10th Week Practice of social work intervention methods and techniques with the adult offenders. Case study. 11th Week Probation services and social work. 12th Week Practice of social work intervention methods and techniques in the probation services. Case study. 13th Week Victimology and social work with victims. Case study. 14th Week General evaluation of the course.
