At the end of this course, the students; 1) will analyze the relationship between the social policy and social work, and they will have strong opinion about the common functions of these both disciplines in the scientific and practical areas 2) will gain knowledge and ability to create appropriate social policies by evaluating the social and economical conditions and structures of the community/society 3) will have advanced knowledge and opinion about the social policies and social welfare systems in Turkey and other countries; and they can reach the level of ability to design and recommend alternative policies and service delivery systems

COURSE DEFINITION
In this course fundamental issues are studied like the concept of social welfare; the importance of social policies and human services to enhance the human well beings; structural aspects of the organizations in the area of health, social services and the other human services; social legislations and human rights; the quantative and qualitative features of the delivery systems of human services. The purpose of the course is to help the student to familiarize and understand the basic concepts of the social policy, human services and social services programmes; to study the national and international social policies and welfare systems; and to understand the importance of the relationship between the social policy and social work.
