LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Will be able to define the functions, structure of financial markets and functions of financial intermediaries.
2) Will be able to define the meaning, role, measurement and functions of money.
3) Will be able to explain the determination of interest rates by using liquidity preference framework and theory of asset demand
4) Will be able to define transaction costs, asymmetric information, moral hazard and adverse selection financial markets.
5) Will be able to explain bank management by using liquidity, asset, liability, capital adequacy management concepts.
6) Will be able to define the structure of banking system.
7) Will be able to explain the role and importance of central banks and process of money supply.
8) Will be able to relate the theoretical foundations with real life applications.

COURSE DEFINITIONMeaning of central banking, history of central banking, responsibilities, tasks and duties of central banks, policy instruments, analytical balance sheet of central banks, monetary aggregates, inflation targeting, monetary programs, central bank and market relationships topics will be covered.
COURSE CONTENTSThe student’s study on a special subject, theoretical and/or practical (experimental), made under the supervision of a faculty member and is presented in front of a jury.
RECOMENDED OR REQUIRED READINGThe literature on the subject of the thesis/the seminar/the project.
